Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is conducted to offer admissions to interested candidates in undergraduate engineering programmes at NITs (National Institutes of Technology), IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology) and other centrally funded technical institutions (CFTIs) located across the country.
JEE Main 2018 offline (pen-paper) exam will be held on April 8 while the online exam will be held on April 15 and 16. JEE Main Paper-1 evaluates the aptitude of candidates who want to pursue BE/BTech at NITs, IIITs and CFTIs. This exam is also the eligibility test for JEE advanced which is the entrance exam to secure admissions in programmes on offer by 16 IITs and Indian School of Mines (ISM). The top 2,22,000 score holders in JEE Main are only eligible to apply for JEE Advanced exam.
What's new in JEE Main 2018?
Diabetic JEE aspirants will now be allowed to carry fruits and water to the examination hall.
The number of JEE Main 2018 centres has increased almost two folds.
3 IIITs have opted out of list of institutes participating in JEE Main 2018.
On the oher hand, 2 more CFTIs have been added to the list of JEE Main 2018 particiating institutes.
Students will be required to upload the scanned image of Parent's/Guardian's signature as well.
Students appearing for the exam from Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli will have an additonal choice of appearing for the paper in Gujarati besides English and Hindi.
According to the JEE Main information brochure, the Board has not incorporated the additional 4000 aspirants who will be eligible for JEE Advanced 2018. 4000 more students to appear for JEE Advanced next year.
